 Lumphat Wildlife Sanctuary, Ratanakiri is one of the must-see places in the colorful Cambodia. The province of Ratanakiri is located in the northeastern part of the country. The total land area of this sanctuary is 250,000 hectares. Travelers are fascinated at the various sights and sounds of the exotic place. If you are lucky, you can have a glimpse of the special kinds of animals that are present here, like tigers, wild ox, Ko Prey, elephants and red-headed vultures. The word Ratanakiri is derived from the Sanskrit words Ratna and Giri, which mean ‘a mountain of gems’. Many tourists come to explore this place every year to explore the natural treasure and experience culture and enjoy the rich wildlife, ecotourism prospects and remote tribal villages.

The Virachey National Park Ratanakiri

Flora: Virachey National Park, Ratanakiri  is made of dense semi evergreen lowlands and montane forests, bamboo thickets, upland savannah, and sporadic patches of mixed deciduous forest. Hillocks and low mountains dominate the topography at over 400 m above sea level. Grassland and scrubs are found in isolated areas as well as in marshlands. The types of vegetation comprise: humid medium elevation formations and humid low elevation formations, montane slopes and montane peneplain, middle valley reaches, valley floors, western lowland, isolated granite outcrops and wetlands. 

Fauna: Virachey National Park, Ratanakiri
The study indicates that there can be about 156 vertebrates in the area. The bovines, small carnivores, cats and primates are endangered species. The globally threatened primates include the Pygmy Loris, Slow Loris, Long-tailed Macaque, Pig-tailed Macaque, Douc Langur and Yellow-cheeked Crested Gibbon. Species of meticulous concern are elephant, gaur, tiger, and the banteng.
There are 100 bird species of international significance in the Virachey National Park. The Germain’s Peacock Pheasant, a restricted species, is supported here. Other near threatened species includes the Red-collared Woodpecker, Siamese Fireback and Great Hornbill. The aquatic environment comprises freshwater crocodile and tortoise, otters, and fish species.

The Norng Kabat Forest, Ratanakiri  houses a beautiful pond is is located about 23 kilometers to the north of Banlung in Ratanakiri, one of the splendid tourist attractions in Ratanakiri, which is frequented by many birds and animals. It attracts tens of thousands of travelers throughout the year, they can also enjoy the wonderful opportunity of watching the beautiful animals and  the unique opportunity of visiting the ethnic villages of the town. Travel Information

Cambodia Visa

All Foreign Visitors are now able to obtain the Cambodia visa upon arrival at the airport.  It is no longer necessary to get the visa stamp at the Cambodian Embassy before your visit. Just prepare the following documents:
A Passport Photocopy
1 photo (3 x 4 cm)
US$ 20 Cash for tourist visa fee (Paid directly to the Immigration)
The Cambodia Visa is issued officially at the following ports of entry:

By Air
Pochentong Airport in Phnom Penh
Siemreap Airport (Angkor Wat Region)

By Land
Travelers can travel to/from Cambodia by land through Aranyapathet-Poipet Border and Trat-Koh Kong Border of Thailand and Moc Bai - Bavet Border of Vietnam

Cambodia Visa Validity:  3 months from the date of issue, *NOT* from the date of entry.

Duration of Stay:  30 days for single entry

Visa Extension

Travelers who would like to prolong their stay in Cambodia may extend their visa at the Department of Immigration situated just opposite the Pochentong Airport. The visa may be extended for 30 days at the cost of USD 25.- 
Visa exempted for the following ASEAN nationals: 

Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore
E-Visa or Electronic Visa

To promote tourism and investment in Cambodia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has launched e-visa or electronic visa.  Travelers who wish to visit Cambodia can apply visa online with credit card payment direct to the Ministry's website. Normal processing time takes three business days and valid for 3 months from the date of issue. Length of stay is 30 days.   Cost is US$ 20 for visa plus Us$ 5 for processing fee.

The following nationals should apply visa at the Cambodia Embassy or Consulate before traveling to Cambodia:

Afghanistan, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nigeria  
(Requirements are letter of sponsor from his/her company, Return air ticket to/from Cambodia, One photocopy of Aien ID card)

How to get here? 
There are direct flights to the capital of Phnom Penh from Bangkok, Hochiminh, Kualalumpur, Singapore, Hongkong, Vientiane and Guangzou. All of these cities serve as gateways to Cambodia meaning Cambodia is easily reached from further a field. Cambodia can also be reached by road from Thailand and Vietnam. Another exotic way to reach Cambodia is by river boat or sea cruise.
Direct flights exist from Bangkok to Siem Reap, the home of Angkor Wat.
